"Nia is both therapeutic and enjoyable. The movements feel natural and open up insights and feelings that will make you feel like you are discovering yourself in a new way." -Bernie Siegel, M. D. Author of 365 Prescriptions for the Soul I have been doing Nia for over three years now and it has transformed my life. Nia allows you to be creative and engage both your physical and emotional self. No two classes are the same and no two instructors are the same. When I leave my Nia class I feel any number of emotions and it varies each time - everything from excitement, joy, release of tension, peace and contentment. I love the fusion of the dancing with the martial arts components - I see it as an exploration of our feminine and masculine sides. One of my friends described it very well - "It's like Halloween - you can be whoever you WANT to be in this class." The routines can be adapted to your fitness level (and your motivation on a given day!) and can be modified based on your limitations. I used to hate working out because it was boring and repetitive. Now I feel guilty when I skip a Nia class! In fact, I was offered a job in Cincinnati and would not commit to accepting it until I found out that there was a budding Nia community here. Nia has become an integral part of my life and I hope to teach it someday! -Woman with a Purpose At the Kula Center, Gwen and Trish have inspired, encouraged, and demonstrated to me that I can dance from my soul and be my best self. Nia is the most healing, fun, and easiest way that I have found to be in connection with my body. I have let go of 30 pounds easily and effortlessly as I connect to myself. I Love My Nia Body! -Matt |
